Angola participates in UN meeting on Environment

Luanda – Angola participated on Thursday, May 30, in Nairobi (Kenya), through a video conference, in the 150th meeting of the United Nations Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR), which analysed future actions on matters of environment preservation. ,

Angola was represented by its permanent representative in the UN offices in Nairobi, Sianga Abílio, who highlighted on the occasion the importance of the promotion by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) of the programme on the platform for the presentation, by young people, of projects and contributions turned to environmental matters at global level, dubbed “Young Champions of the earth”.  


The meeting – which was chaired by the Brazilian ambassador, Fernando Coimbra – analysed and adopted a document that outlines a series of measures focused on the environment which are to be discussed at the fifth session of the UN Assembly on this issue, scheduled for February 2021.   


The meeting was attended by 137 members that recommended the approval, at the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-5), of the medium term strategy of the UNEP for the 2022-2025 period.
