Consular Registration is the first consular act performed on behalf of a national residing abroad. It is a voluntary act, but mandatory for the execution of any other consular act. All citizens of Angolan nationality, whether adults or minors, who are residing abroad have the right to register. Consular registration is free of charge.
The Birth Certificate Transcription is done based on a birth certificate issued by the local authorities of the country where the birth occurred.
Any of the parents, provided that at least one of them has Angolan nationality.
Like all acts subject to Registration, the Marriage of Angolan citizens celebrated abroad must be communicated to the Central Registry Office in Angola, which will proceed with its endorsement in the margin of their birth certificate registration and, consequently, change their marital status.
It is not enough to have contracted marriage in the civil registry of the country where you reside, to change your marital status in national documents, therefore, it requires consular transcription, for subsequent submission to the Central Registry Office in Angola.
In this case, one of the documents to be presented at the time of marriage transcription is the original marriage certificate celebrated in the USA.
