The Passport is the travel document that allows Angolan citizens to leave or enter any Angolan border post and foreign countries, and is sufficient to prove their identity to foreign authorities
Requirements for obtaining an Ordinary Passport

Requirements:
Adults:
  • 1st Time Passport Application Form (available at the Consular Section counter).
  • Photocopy of consular registration card
  • Passport and identity card
  • Three current color passport photos
  • Proof of school or professional qualifications (optional)
Minors:

In addition to the items mentioned in numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5, you can submit one (only one) of the following documents:

  • Birth certificate (up to 5 years old)
  • Identity card (from the age of 6)
  • Full copy of the Birth Certificate, issued in Angola, authenticated by the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX).
  • A full copy of the Nationality Certificate, issued in Angola, endorsed by the Integrated Services of the National Directorate of Identification, Registries and Notaries of the Angolan Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, authenticated by the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) and a copy of the Angolan Official Gazette, which informs of the granting of Angolan nationality.

Angolan Document of a Parent, Legal Guardian or Legal Representative You can present one (only one) of the following documents:

  • National Passport
  • Identity Card
  • Consular Registration

It should be noted that the services will only be provided on presentation of this bank statement.

Note: In addition to the aforementioned documents, the application for an ordinary passport for a minor under eighteen years of age or incapacitated adult must also include a statement of responsibility from the person exercising the power of legal representative with the signature notarized and a photocopy of the respective valid identity card. The requirement for students to present a statement from their service or school does not apply to citizens who work from home.

What should I do if my passport is lost, misplaced or stolen?

In addition to the documents required to obtain a passport, the person concerned must present proof of the police notification.

Travel Document (Laissez-Passer)

The TRAVEL DOCUMENT is the international identification document used by nationals to return to the territory of the Republic of Angola in the absence of a passport due to its loss, misplacement, theft, destruction or non-existence.

The TRAVEL DOCUMENT is valid for a single trip and can be used within 30 days of its issue.

Who can apply?

All Angolan citizens wishing to travel to Angola who do not have their passport because it has been lost, misplaced, destroyed, stolen or some other circumstance for which they do not have their passport.

The presence of the person wishing to apply for the laissez-passer is mandatory, including minors, regardless of their age.

Requirements:
  • TRAVEL DOCUMENT Application Form (available from the Consular Section).
  • Two (2) current color passport photos, with a white background, less than 6 months old, without a smile, sunglasses, earrings (for male citizens), piercing, scarf, turban and bangs. Ears must be properly exposed.
  • Valid consular registration.
  • Identity card
  • Copy of the 1st, 2nd and last page (32) of the expired ordinary passport. If the passport has been lost or misplaced, proof must be provided to the police.
  • Copy of the ticket or travel reservation.
For Minors :

In addition to the items referred to in numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5, you can present one (only one) of the following documents one) of the following documents:

  • Personal Identity Card / Birth Certificate
  • Identity card
  • Full copy of the Birth Certificate issued in Angola, authenticated by Angola's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX).
  • Full copy of the Certificate of Nationality, issued in Angola, authenticated by the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) and Copy of the order from the Angolan Official Gazette, on the information of the conception of Angolan Nationality
If you are traveling with:

A - The parents

(father and mother), you must also present the following
documents:

  • A copy of the parents' passports, 1st, 2nd and last page (32);
  • A copy of the parent's passport, 1st, 2nd and last page (32); Copy of the parent's ticket or travel reservation

B - One of the parents

(father or mother) must also submit the following documents:

  • Copy of passport 1st, 2nd and last page (32)
  • Copy of the ticket or travel reservation
  • Travel authorization from the parent who will not be part of the trip, duly signed and notarized
  • Copy of the identification document, identity card or passport (document with which you recognized the term)

C - If you are not traveling with your parents

  • Copy of the accompanying person's passport 1st, 2nd and last page (32)
  • Copy of the ticket or travel reservation
  • Travel authorization from the parent who will not be part of the trip, duly signed and notarized
  • A copy of the identity card or passport which will serve as an element for signature recognition
  • Judicial decision of the person who has parental authority or custody of the minor or the disabled person.
Additional Information
  • The absence of any of the required documents may result in the process being rejected.
  • Whenever necessary, the Consular Section reserves the right to request the presentation of other documents, as well as to call the user in for an interview.
  • All documents in a foreign language must be translated into Portuguese by an official translator and legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Countries Benefiting From Of Visa Exemption To Enter Angola

With the aim of simplifying and speeding up the process of obtaining tourist visas, citizens of 98 countries are exempt from visa requirements to enter Angola.

According to Presidential Decree no. 189/23, published in the Diário da República, citizens of beneficiary countries can enjoy exemption from tourist visas and can stay for up to 30 days per entry and up to 90 days per year.

However, this exemption does not exempt them from complying with other formalities, such as presenting a passport valid for more than six months and, where necessary, an international vaccination certificate.

The regime laid down in the Presidential Decree applies exclusively to tourist visas.
