Powers of Attorney

Powers of attorney may be drawn up by public instrument, by written document and signed by the represented party with the face-to-face recognition of the handwriting and signature, concerning national citizens.

Requirements:
Principal: (the one who delegates powers) The grantor must appear in person at the Consular Section with the following documents
  • A note addressed to the Consular Section of this Embassy mentioning the powers that it will delegate to others.
  • Valid Consular Registration Card.
  • You can present one (only one) of the following documents: • Valid Identity Card • Valid Passport (pages 1, 2 and last).
  • Payment (Money Order, in the name of "Angola Consulate").
  • The user must send a prepaid return envelope.
Agent: (one who receives the delegated powers)
  • Valid Identity Card.
  • Professional Certificate of the Bar Association [if the Lawyer is the most pro-attorney].
Additional information :
  • The lack of any of the required documents may result in the rejection of the process.
  • Whenever necessary, the Consular Section reserves the right to request the presentation of other documents, as well as to invite the user for an interview.
  • All documents in a foreign language must be translated into Portuguese, by an official translator and legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the countries of origin

  • Power of Attorney (Simple Forensic Powers) $50.00
Document Authentication

The following documents can be authenticated by the Consular Section of the Consulate General of the Republic of Angola in New York. Documents issued by the U.S. authorities.

  • Diplomas
  • Criminal Record
  • Medical Certificate
  • Other
Requirements:

The request for Authentication is made upon presentation of the following documents:

Angolan citizen:
  • Valid Consular Registration Card (optional for non-resident citizens).
  • Angolan Document - You can present the original and a photocopy of a only one of the following documents:
    Valid Identity Card
    Valid passport (pages 1, 2 and last)
  • Original of the document to be authenticated.
Foreign Citizen:
  • Valid passport or ID
  • Original of the document to be authenticated.
Collective Entities (Companies/Agencies):
  • Document to be authenticated.
  • Company Identification Documents
  • Commercial License
Important Note :
  • The lack of any of the required documents may result in the rejection of the process.
  • Whenever necessary, the Consular Section reserves the right to request the submission of other documents.
  • Original document and official translation into Portuguese, both previously Notarized and authenticated by the Local and Federal Department of State.
  • All documents in a foreign language (with the exception of passport, international vaccination certificate and proof of flight and hotel reservations) must be previously translated into Portuguese by an official translator.
  • Consular Fee for Company Documents $150.00
  • Signature Recognition for Civil Administration $35.00

Terms of Responsibility

Terms of Responsibility for Authorizing Minors to Travel A minor's travel authorization consists of presenting a term of responsibility authorizing the minor to travel.

Military Census

Citizens required to take the military census are those who will be 18 years old between January and December of the current year. All Angolan male citizens are OBLIGED to present

themselves for the military census, after which they will receive proof that they have taken part in the census:

  • A photocopy of the user's identity card or passport
  • Two passport photos

Military registration is free of charge.

Proof of Life

The person wishing to apply for the Proof of Life Declaration must be present.

  • Valid Consular Registration Card
  • Identity Card or photocopy of Passport (1st, 2nd and 32nd pages), both valid
  • Photocopy of Pensioner or Social Security Card
  • Payment (Money Order, on behalf of "Angola Consulate") $ 35.00
Foreign Citizen
  • Passport
  • Proof of registration with the National Social Security Institute or similar institution and additional documents if necessary.
  • Payment (Money Order, in the name of "Angola Consulate") $ 35.00
